Windsor Royal tenant, Heidi Bakery, has won a 1-star Great Taste Award for their Chocolate Mirror Cake.
Run annually by the Guild of Fine Food, the Great Taste Awards represent the very best of British food, where producers large and small can enter their wares for judging. Each item is then meticulously tested for taste by a panel of judges to work out whether it has made the grade.
Their winning 8-inch celebration cake is a chocolate lover’s delight - with 5 different cocoa-based elements using various pastry techniques. It is handmade from scratch by the team at Heidi Studio, based in Windsor.
The judges loved the combination saying the cake was “decadent and technically astute; in terms of flavour, each element matches up to its predecessor”. They said, “the feuilletine stars, though the mousse is equally as special”. The Heidi team commented, “we’re so proud of our kitchen team for their work to get this cake just right”.
